The coffee producing story of DCR is quite tough, as is the history of this country for the last few decades. Congo, after overcoming difficult times, is building a new way to come back to the world coffee market, trying to recover from obscurity caused by civil wars and rebel conflicts during the 1990s.
Despite the political and civil instability much effort applied to improve the coffee growing and processing conditions and build a sustainable relationship with importers. Government and foreign companies support the agricultural sector with special programs which aim to re-establish the coffee trade, rebuild mills, offer education toward specialty coffee etc
Vughole processing station is a part of the Coopade Women‘s Section and managed and operated exclusively by women.
This lot came from the Kawa Amaha Women’s Coffee project. Kawa Amaha means “Coffee of Hope” in the local language and underlines the spirit and energy of fascinating women, who are working there and doing their best to improve the livelihood of their families.
